How To Accept and Deal With The Disappointment Of Conceiving A Girl Instead Of A Boy

It can be hard to not feel conflicting emotions when concentrating on conceiving a baby boy. The first and most common emotion is guilt. Though the guilt can keep some moms from coming forward with their feelings and seeking the advice of a professional, it is important to know that there are other places where it is safe to discuss such emotions. These sites act as a support group where women can express themselves without the fear of judgment or misunderstanding. All of these forums also offer moms the option of staying completely anonymous. This helps to add a sense of security and freedom, letting them truly express their thoughts, fears and ultimately their disappointments. These forums are generally occupied by other moms and expecting women who are also struggling with conceiving a baby boy or girl. This circle of women can offer very valuable words of wisdom and advice.

There is also the option to seek professional help from a birth councilor or psychotherapist. Professional help is incredibly beneficial and will encourage parents to express emotions that they may otherwise have kept hidden. These specialists may also advise expecting parents to find out the gender of their baby before the delivery. The reason for this is to allow the parents to become familiar and prepared for the arrival of their new baby regardless of gender. Birth councilors may also assure parents that modern families are not what they used to be; listing many events, hobbies and interests which, traditionally, were thought to be “boy things” and are now offered just as frequently to girls. This is done in hopes of helping the expectant parents realize that their first and foremost preference is a healthy, happy baby. Assuring them that their family will grow in a positive way whether they are trying to conceive a baby boy and fail or succeed.
