Why are stereophile interconnects so long?

If your CD player sits in the same rack as your (pre-)amp, why are audiophile RCA interconnects like 10 and 50 feet long?

Always keep your RCA interconnect cables as short as possible. 3 or 6 foot cables are available everywhere.

If you are paying more than $30 or so for your audio RCA cables, you are paying too much.

Just buy good quality cables…anything more than that is a waste of money.
