The LED TV’s are HDTV. LED’s provide a better backlight for LCD televisions than the conventional fluorescent tubes that are located around the perimeter of the set, therefore producing better contrast ratios across the screen. Hopefully the LED circuitry will be more reliable than the tubes and high voltage supplies powering them.
