Recording with digital converter box?

Is there any way to record using a digital converter box? I have tried, but it only records the television without the converter box on.

There are several ways to do this with a VCR or a DVD recorder. Here’s the simplest with a VCR:

1. Connect a very good antenna to the converter’s input.
2. Connect the converter’s coaxial output to the VCR’s antenna input.
3. Set the VCR output to channel 3. (Make that channel 4 if you have a strong channel 3 in your area.)
4. Set the VCR tuner to the same channel as step 3 and leave it there permanently.
5. Set your TV’s tuner to the same channel as step 3 and leave it there permanently.
6. Set your VCR to pass-through.
7. Select the desired digital channel with your converter’s remote. Get a good picture on your TV.
8. Program your VCR for the desired time span to record.
9. Leave the converter and VCR as-is until recording is complete. You cannot watch one channel while recording another.
